Come dance Waltz and polka under the Stars like it was 1799! Live Music! Food & Drink! This event is special in many ways! The first is that it is the 5th year anniversary of the first St. John's Ball, held in 2017. It was the event that got me interested in creating a vibrant Vienna Ball culture here in Chicago, supported by our churches. It's also the second outdoor ball at Annunciation Parish. Fr. Thomas Loya, the pastor of Annunciation, was one of Theology of Dance's earliest and most enthusiastic supporters. Annunciation is also a Byzantine Rite parish with it's roots in the Ukraine. The church will be open for tours and is a beautiful example of Ukrainian culture. In addition the parish has an award winning native wetland prairie restoration. This year we are also excited to have the debut of of our Ball orchestra who will be playing at all our future events! We will also be providing generous appetizers and drinks, and there will be a tent in case of rain. Formal Attire is required, although please choose clothes suitable for summer and the outdoors. Period clothing from the Renaissance, Baroque, or Victorian periods is encouraged! For shoes, we will be dancing on the grass, so please wear appropriate footwear!
