Join us for a community Lantern Floating Ceremony at Arrington Lagoon in honor of ASPA Heritage Month and Memorial Day Kids Create Change is hosting a community Lantern Floating Ceremony event as part of ASPA Heritage Month. The event is inspired by the ubiquitous lantern festivals and traditions found across Asia, South Asia and the Pacific Islands. This event is designed to offer an opportunity for community members to come together to honor the losses resulting from the pandemic including loved ones, homes, jobs, relationships, special events and celebrations etc. The past 2 years have forced many to experience and process these losses in isolation. This event offers community members a chance to come together with others to honor and remember through a collective act of floating lanterns on the Lagoon. Kids Create Change will host 3 Lantern Making Workshops in May. To register for a Lantern Making Workshop visit: www.kidscreatechange.org Please note that we have a limited number of lanterns and lanterns will not be available for making at the ceremony. You can still attend the ceremony without a lantern! Attendees who are unable to make a lantern prior to the ceremony will have the opportunity to make a land luminary on site.
