Press release from the Cobb County Government: May 12, 2022 Chairwoman Lisa Cupid joined fellow Chairs of four metro counties, local mayors, and state transportation leaders at the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to develop a transit concept for the upcoming I-285 Express Lanes. The lanes are similar to the express lanes that run up through I-75 and I-575 in Cobb County, but there will be two lanes on each side of I-285. This $16 million concept will design a transit express lane component for the larger project and stops for the express service across the top end. Cobb's Board allocated the county's $580,000 share for the concept through federally-allocated ARPA transit funds during a vote last December.
