Press release from the Middlesex Community College: May 11, 2022 Middlesex Community College has been designated a 2022-2023 Silver-Level Military Friendly® School by VIQTORY. Through the Veterans Resource Center (VRC), a Veterans Advisory Board, and other special services, Middlesex assists veteran and military-affiliated students in attending college. "It is imperative that we honor the service and sacrifice of our veteran and military-affiliated students," said Jessica Frost, MCC's Director of the VRC. "The VRC was established to provide valuable resources, assistance with navigating educational benefits, social connections and programming. It brings me great joy to give back to our veteran and military-affiliated students every day." The annual list of Military Friendly® Schools honors the top colleges, universities and trade schools in the country. MCC was honored for its "holistic services approach." This includes the college's commitment to this population of students, assistance with financial aid, and retention through graduation, according to the website. IT Cybersecurity student Jeffrey Callahan, of the South Shore, is looking to start a career in the information technology (IT) field. In taking advantage of the benefits he receives through the VRC, he is able to more easily navigate his return to school. "Going back to school as a returning 'adult' student is not an easy journey," he said. "The staff here have made that process a lot easier for me. I am utilizing a VA program for educational benefits and would have had a much more difficult time if I had not received this assistance from the college."
