WATERFORD, CT — The Waterford Fire Department has stepped up to assist a girl who has a hearing issue, according to WTNH News-8. Natasha Dickinson, mother of seven-year-old Lexi, said she had no issues with her hearing until she was about five years old. Now Lexi has a cochlear implant in one ear and a hearing aid in the other. Her parents were concerned that she wouldn't be able to hear a fire alarm if she were sleeping, which is where the fire department came in. The department purchased a HomeAware system for the family. The unit is triggered when the alarm goes off, causing the bed to shake a white strobe light to illuminate. Read the full story at WTNH News-8.
