MARLBOROUGH, MA — The ongoing renovation of the Marlborough Public Library marked a milestone this week: steel arrived at the construction site to begin building a large addition. The $24 million library rebuild will add a new 16,000 square-foot addition to the original Carnegie Library building along West Main Street. "Crews will begin installing the steel that will form the new addition, so you'll see the structure taking shape as you drive by! Renovation on the original Carnegie portion will continue as well," the Marlborough Public Library Foundation said in a social media post. The steel for the new structure arrived at the construction site on Tuesday. The city broke ground on the renovation in September, and work could be complete sometime in 2023. For now, the library is being temporarily housed at the Walker Building about one block northeast of the main library. Related: Marlborough Woman Makes $250K Gift To Library Honoring Parents
