Description

Come together with the whole community for the biggest Juneteenth celebration yet! Juneteenth is a time which we gather to celebrate this great day in American History. Juneteenth commemorates the day that the last enslaved people in Texas were informed of the end of the Civil War and their emancipation. We realize that freedom knows no color and extends far beyond race, ethnicity, or socioeconomic status. This year's theme is "Freedom is For Everyone!". The event will be held on Saturday, June 18th from 12-4 pm on the St. Clair County Community College's campus. There will be varied live performances, Juneteenth educational resources, special guests, great food, and music as the focus of the day! Don't forget to stop at the Kid's Zone that includes free crafts, games, cake walk, activities, 3 on 3 basketball tournaments, bounce houses, and storytelling sessions! Something for everyone, including prizes and giveaways throughout the day! The event will include educational speakers throughout the day's activities to discuss the importance of Juneteenth and why we are celebrating. Walk through or bring a chair and a blanket to spread out and spend the whole day! This event is co-sponsored by St. CLair County Community College DEI office, Port Huron Black Lives Matter, Port Huron NAACP, SCCORE, C4yoursefl church, the BLue Water Arts Committee and Equity and Inclusion Committee of the St. Clair County Community Foundation, the Blue Water Chamber of Commerce, the City of Port Huron and Port Huron Museums .
