BELMONT, MA — A 39-year-old man was arrested Thursday for calling in a fake bomb threat to Belmont High School. The man was only identified as a 39-year-old from Ossipee, New Hampshire, Belmont Police Chief James MacIsaac said in a statement. Police were able to arrest MacIsaac from a Holiday Inn in Peabody. On Wednesday, Belmont High School officials canceled classes and closed the school after receiving a bomb threat through the town's joint communications center around 6:30 a.m. No students were in the building when the threat was called, but the few faculty members inside were evacuated, police said. Officers responded to the school and swept the building; by 9 a.m., police said the building was safe. It is unclear what the 39-year-old's connection to the school is at this time.
