LIVERMORE, CA — Police arrested a 25-year-old man from Stockton Monday they say was suspected of multiple catalytic converter thefts. The man was arrested for suspected stolen property and possession of burglary tools and additional charges, police said. Police did not give the name of the man or say what the additional charges were. Officers pulled the man over on I-580 eastbound north of Greenville Road. He had multiple outstanding warrants for his arrest and his driver's license was suspended for suspected DUI, police said. When they stopped the driver, officers found four catalytic converters and tools used in converter thefts, police said. A victim met with police at a body shop in Pleasanton Tuesday who said two converters were stolen from his SUV in Livermore. The officer discovered that two of the four converters stolen Monday were exact matches, police said. The converters were returned and police say the victim saved thousands of dollars as they had been discontinued. It is unknown if the man is in custody.
