SEPTA High-Speed Train From Norristown To KOP Is On Track

NORRISTOWN – SEPTA is seeking proposals for the final design of a $390 million, 4-mile high-speed train from King of Prussia to Norristown. The proposed stops on the KOP Rail include First and Moore streets; First Street and American Avenue; and Henderson Road, Upper Merion Township. The Norristown High Speed Line is a 13.4-mile train line with stops between Norristown and Upper Darby, Delaware County. Construction of the KOP extension is expected to begin in 2024, with completion in 2027. Funding for the train is included in SEPTA's budget proposals. Virtual hearings on the budget are scheduled at 10 a.m. here and 4 p.m. here Monday, May 23. The new rail will increase equity by increasing access to jobs and opportunities with frequent and reliable transit service, according to Leslie S. Richards, SEPTA general manager and CEO. The KOP Rail is participating in the Federal Transit Administration's Capital Investment Grant program – a critical milestone in seeking federal funding.
