WOODBURY, MN — Four high school seniors from Woodbury are among the thousands who earned National Merit Scholarships this year. Nikhil Jain, a senior at Woodbury High School, is set to receive a $2,500 scholarship from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, which runs the program. Jain was among 2,500 scholarship winners named Wednesday who chosen from a group of more than 15,000 "outstanding" finalists in the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program, according to the organization. Three other seniors from Woodbury earned National Merit Scholarships sponsored by 3M. National Merit 3M Scholarship winners were Minda C. Li and Minkai V. Li — both seniors at Woodbury High School — and Elissa Frankel, a senior at Mounds Park Academy in St. Paul, according to the organization. Most of the corporate-sponsored scholarships provide annual stipends of $1,000-$10,000 and can be renewed for up to four years, though some provide a single payment of $2,500-$5,000, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation said.
