DEERFIELD, IL — As the Deerfield Farmers Market continues through its fourth decade, it will have a new permanent for the 28th season. The market will call Park Avenue, between Jewett Park Drive and Hazel Avenue, every Saturday starting June 11 through Oct. 15. Mary S. Glowacz, management analyst for the Village of Deerfield, tells Patch the market will run from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. "With a bonus market date on the third Saturday in October, this is our longest market season to date," Glowacz said. "We have a lot of fun activities, entertainments, and events planned to make this our best season yet." Glowacz said the market will continue its focus on the promise of "food, friends and fun" with the return of many beloved market activities this season. She said the market is dedicated to providing fresh, locally grown and prepared food in a safe, open-air shopping experience. In addition, this season, market patrons will be able to enjoy many traditional market activities tailored to fit into our new market environment. Returning market activities will include live musical performances, kids' activities, civic groups' participation, and special events. Some of these activities were present at the market in a reduced capacity last season, but will be returning to a full schedule this season. To ensure maximum safety, 2022 market rules will require: Social distancing measures to be in place A one-way market flow Vendors to be spaced out Availability of hand sanitization stations No bikes inside the market Dogs to be leashed on a 6-foot lead or lessThe Village will continue to monitor existing guidelines from the CDC and make changes as necessary.Items for Sale Seasonal vegetables and fruit locally grown by farmers in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and WisconsinOrganic and naturally grown vegetables and flowersFresh meats, eggs, and fishHand-crafted Wisconsin cheese, exceptional variety of syrups, honeys, confections, salsas, jellies, dressings, soups, sauces, and spreadsFresh-baked breads, muffins, pies, and cookiesDelicious prepared foods.
