Description
UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — The Upper West Side is about to get a new family ice cream shop.
Trudy's Ice Cream will open at 975 Columbus Ave. (West 108th Street) in the middle of May, according to its website.
Trudy's first started selling ice cream in 1949, with unique flavors like peanut butter, bacon maple walnut, pumpkin pecan, German chocolate, and coffee toffee crunch. It also offers soft serve and makes its cones from scratch.
"Trudy, my mom, always wanted quality and we try to maintain that today with the yummiest flavors. I can still hear dad saying ...."Now thats good eat'n"! Enjoy Trudy's Ice Cream!" reads a message on the ice cream shop's website.
The West Side Rag, which was the first publication to report on the opening, says that the owner Steve Hlay, also owns the neighborhood spot Crepes on Columbus.
It will be open every day from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Trudy's Ice Cream will join other Upper West Side ice cream spots such as Emack & Bolio's, Amorino, Van Leeuwen Ice Cream, and Ben & Jerry's.
