TPD Believes Medical Incident May Have Led To Fatal Crash

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa Police Department says a Tuscaloosa woman who died Wednesday during a crash on Overbrook Road may have experienced a medical incident that caused her to lose control of the car. TPD said in a press release on Thursday that Ruby Petagrew, 82, lost control of her 1999 Toyota Corolla while crossing over a speed table at 6:55 p.m. The vehicle then reportedly struck a mailbox before crashing into bushes of the residence three houses away. Petagrew was pronounced dead at the scene. TPD's Accident Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate the circumstances of the crash.
