WORCESTER, MA — High schools across Worcester County have received grants from District Attorney Joseph Early Jr.'s this spring to support safe activities following major end-of-school-year events.
The DA's office has given out a combined $25,000 in grants to schools across the county this spring. The grants are supporting post-prom and post-graduation events meant to steer students away from engaging in risky behavior, like driving under the influence.
For example, Westborough will hold its 30th annual Project Graduation event on June 4. During the event, 2022 graduates will spend the night at the Teamworks sports complex with games, food and other activities.
"This time of year should be a celebration for our students and their families," Early said in a news release. "These celebrations can turn into tragedies in the blink of an eye when drinking and driving is involved. These programs help keep kids safe while they have fun and celebrate rituals of high school life."
