PORT WASHINGTON, NY — Months after a softball tournament in Florida was canceled, Port Washington parents say they still haven't been reimbursed about $25,000, according to a report. Paul D. Schreiber High School parents paid about $1,800 each to play an April tournament in Orlando. The event was canceled due the coronavirus pandemic, and parents told Newsday they have yet to get their money back.
Michael Hynes, superintendent of the Port Washington Union Free School District, told the newspaper the district has been talking with organizers of the tournament and the school board authorized releasing nearly $18,000 to pay back families.
