JOB SUMMARY The Generator Mechanic performs repairs, diagnostics and preventative maintenance on generators and completes scheduled and unscheduled repairs based on work orders in the repair tracking system.   CORE RESPONSIBILITIES Wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when and where required. Perform repairs, diagnostics and preventative maintenance on generators. Perform basic intermediate inspections, preventative maintenance, repairs and replacements following company guidelines on generators. Create and process work orders.  Document repair operations and time-tracking in accordance with company procedures.   Assist co-workers with diagnostics and repairs. Requisition parts through the Purchasing Department. Conduct technical inspections and documenting findings. Maintain repair order documentation to include repair description, parts used and repair times. Keeps truck stocked with commonly needed items. Ensure work area is clean and neat. Comply with company safety policies and with applicable state and federal regulations. Immediately report any safety violations and correcting unsafe acts or conditions. Other duties as assigned. Travel to generators that are located offsite for repairs    REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS At least three years of experience with mechanical repair,  power equipment, diesel engines, natural gas engines, ETC. Demonstrated mechanical repair skills Time management skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English Must possess own tools   PREFERRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS  College or technical school-level coursework in automotive maintenance Vocational certificate or Associate's degree in generator technology experience using the Microsoft Office suite of products – i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook   REQUIRED LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS Valid Class C driver’s license Record of safe driving for the last five years as shown on current MVR, with no serious accidents or traffic violations   *Texas Disposal Systems is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer.
