EARN A HIRING BONUS OF UP TO $8,000!  $4,000 FOR ALL MECHANICS* $8,000 FOR MECHANICS WITH VERIFIABLE WASTE EXPERIENCE* *EXCLUSIONS APPLY - CHECK WITH HR FOR DETAILS   JOB SUMMARY The position is responsible for the maintenance, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of all on highway vehicles and equipment.  This position will ensure safe work practices, work quality and accuracy and maintain appropriate work records.     DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Wear the appropriate personal protective equipment when and where required. Develop schedules and methods for performing assigned duties. Exercise direct and indirect supervision over lower-level Mechanic staff. Prioritize, monitor and complete mechanical repairs to vehicles and equipment. Ensure safe work practices, work quality and accuracy. Comply with applicable safety policies and department procedures.  Establish, maintain and monitor compliance with the preventive maintenance program for all equipment and vehicles.  Perform or assist with the more difficult duties of the work unit, including complex mechanical equipment diagnosis and repair.  Maintain appropriate work records and documents, which may include inspections, repairs, maintenance schedules and purchases. Assume responsibility for motivating, training and evaluating assigned personnel.  Initiate disciplinary procedures when appropriate.  Manage the parts inventory, supplies and equipment, ordering replacements when necessary. Conduct monthly inventory audits. Maintain vehicle inspection records. Schedule and perform inspections and certifications. Report immediately any safety violations and corrects unsafe acts or conditions.  Must possess own tools. Other duties as assigned.   KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs) Attend all safety meetings  100% compliance with company and Occupational Health & Safety Administration (OSHA) policies 99% of all work accurately accounted for on repair orders Work Quality  Monthly inventories conducted   QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS High school diploma or equivalent and three to five years of heavy truck or equipment maintenance experience Must have the ability to become ASE-certified; Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills; Ability to diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, fuel, engine cooling, air conditioning, and engine and transmission systems on company assets; and Must be able to maintain repair order documentation.   PREFERRED Valid Texas Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certified Formal diesel or heavy equipment training  Graduate of an accredited 2-year technical school    REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS Valid Texas Class C driver’s license *Texas Disposal Systems is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer.
