JOB SUMMARY The Transfer Station Supervisor is responsible for the daily scheduling of equipment operators and yard laborers; for ensuring the full functionality of the transfer station and its compliance with relevant local, state and federal ordinances and regulations; and for ensuring the delivery of quality customer service.   CORE RESPONSIBILITIES Report to work at the designated time wearing the uniform and any required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).   Supervise transfer station equipment operators and laborers, including scheduling, training and reassigning tasks as necessary. Develop and manage work schedules to ensure adequate coverage during peak, holiday and weekend shifts, including re-assignment of individuals to meet fluctuating business needs and limit overtime expenses. Oversee the transfer station operation and movement of traffic to ensure regulatory and contract compliance. Coordinate with the Maintenance department to ensure the availability of fully functioning equipment.  Complete the required transfer station reports and analyses and submit them to the Operations Manager. Monitor trailer status and inventories and submit work orders when trailers are full. Coordinate and communicate with Dispatch to ensure work orders are entered and hauls are scheduled on time. Operate equipment when needed, including compactor, backhoes, wheel loader, and terminal trucks. Be available for work on weekends and holidays, as needed. Attend monthly safety meetings and weekly site meetings. Report operations issues to the Operations Manager. Relieve scale house attendant for lunch, vacation or sick days, Saturdays and emergencies, as needed. Other duties as assigned. REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or its equivalent At least two years of experience in solid waste facility management or related experience Advanced operational skills Strong logistical aptitude Basic proficiency with navigating the Internet Basic proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite – e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook Demonstrated working knowledge of the systems involved with solid waste management and disposal Ability to become proficient with software and systems used by the company, including fleet routing software REQUIRED LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS Valid Texas Class C driver’s Llcense Record of safe driving for the last five years as shown on a current Motor Vehicle Record (MVR), with no serious accidents or traffic violations Must obtain Class B Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) License within first six months of employment     *Texas Disposal Systems is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer.
