Small Terrier Mix

Description

I have a small female rat terrier mix that just isn't going to be the best fit for us. I have 6 other dogs that are all high energy, high drive dogs. I was hoping when I heard she was terrier that she would have more grit and tumble to her, but I would guess she is mixed with chihuahua due to her facial features and just how small she is. She is around 8-9 months old. She is intact. I did not receive vaccination records for her. She gets along great and is motivated to run with my big dogs. She is fine with our cat. Her ideal home in her eyes would be someone that would let her sit on a lap more often than not! I did find that she has some separation anxiety, so we have started crate training with her and working through nipping the barking and whining in the butt whenever I step away from the room she is in. She IS making progress and I would recommend that her new home have an enclosed crate for her to rest in, receive meals in, and be put into when owner is leaving home without her. We have gotten to the point where she will sleep soundly in her crate at night. She did come to us also using potty pads, but she seems to be fully transitioned to going out when she needs to as long as you understand when she is requesting to potty. She is very creative at finding ways to get to food and treats that were not handed to her. She will jump onto chairs to get onto a table to eat food. She has also hopped onto my computer chair to find a small baggie of kibble to eat when I stepped out of the room. Along with (impressively) moving an ex-pen across one of my training rooms to get to a baggie of kibble in a sweatshirt pocket. This is also why I suggest crating her when leaving to prevent her from getting to food or something dangerous that isn't for her. Right now she is eating what my large dogs are on, which is Kinetic Performance Active 26k (available through Chewy and some local small businesses will carry it if requested). As for how large she is, she seems to be under 10lbs. She definitely enjoys the beef cheek rolls we have given her when she is out and about with us while we're working. She is very food motivated. She has an impressive sniffer on her for her size and, well, the shape of her face lol She would be a lot of fun for someone that wants to get into or enjoys training dogs, but wants an easy little dog. Any further questions, don't hesitate to ask! As for the rehoming fee, I would be looking to get what I had paid for her which was $250. She is a fun, affectionate, goofy little dog that will make somebody VERY happy, but she's not the right fit for an active performance home. CL was having trouble uploading photos of her, so certainly send me an email if I am still unable to get photos attached to this ad at a later time.
