We have seen the world, created friendships and memories that will last a lifetime and raised over $700,000 for Flatwater in the process. With the great success of the Challenge, we now aim to create a new series with a similar formula (motivated group of awesome people paddle a long distance together) but pair it down a bit. And for our extremists, don't worry, the Challenge isn’t going anywhere! Let us introduce you to Flatwater Excursion. Flatwater Excursion is a yearly SUP adventure that will take place in various epic locations around the US with the format as such: Day 1: get there, Day 2: paddle enormous amount of miles through sensational location, Day 3: head home exhausted, inspired and fulfilled. Fireside chats, local adventures and most likely a bit of tomfoolery to be expected. The ask is one you are familiar with - raise some money, paddle far, have fun. The impact will be life-changing therapy to Flatwater program participants in need. Now to the inaugural Flatwater Excursion, Flatwater Excursion: Lake Dunmore: Lying at the base of central Vermont’s Mt. Moosalamoo, Lake Dunmore is the gateway to Green Mountain National Forest. Lake Dunmore offers a sandy shore, clear water, and glorious mountain views. The 985-acre lake is over three miles long and spans up to one mile wide and is a natural treasure in the beautiful state of Vermont. The lake is full of fish, and loons, bald eagles and other water birds abound. This June, Flatwater will take a group of paddlers to take on 32 miles of Lake Dunmore. We will arrive on Friday, June 3rd, camp on private lakeshore land, paddle all day on Saturday, June 4th, celebrate the miles paddled and the lives changed that night and head home on Sunday, June 5th. Learn more about this dedicated crew of outstanding humans here. Flatwater looks forward to experiencing the natural wonders of Lake Dunmore while doing a bit of good in the process.
