Description

Panel discussion featuring local faith leaders who will share their insights on mental health and Expo with Mental Health resources. As part of our Community Flourishing project, Faith Leaders and church staff are invited to attend our Panel Discussion and Expo on Mental Health on May 18th at Forest City Church, 1280 S Alpine Road. The Church has the opportunity and responsibility to care holistically for the well-being of Christians. Church’s conversations surrounding mental health have changed and will continue to change for the foreseeable future. This means going a step further than the usual church interactions to encourage safe dialogue around mental and emotional health issues such as anxiety, depression and loneliness. How do you engage in these conversations and how do you practice self-care to safeguard your own mental health as a faith leader? Our panel discussion will feature local faith leaders who will share their insights on mental health, as well as how churches are partnering with community organizations to provide mental healthcare for their congregation members. Insights from our Pastors will include how they share information and resources about mental health with their congregants. Our faith leaders will also share how they replenish themselves and practice self-care for their own mental health. An Expo will follow the panel discussion which will feature community organizations who provide services in the area of mental health. Panelists include: Pastor Dan Hinz, Bethesda Covenant Pastor Ed Copeland, New Zion Jeff Nelson, Mental Health Gateway/Crosspoint Church Moderator, Pastor Norma Borrero, Life Church We will also have brief remarks by Jason Holcomb, Winnebago County Mental Health Board on their services to our community.
