Join us for the 1st Annual Fishing Derby at Three Oaks to benefit Young at Heart Senior Pet Adoptions! Young at Heart is a rescue for senior dogs & cats and we believe that Love Has No Age Limit. Our mission is to provide senior dogs and cats with a safe haven to ensure they live with comfort, compassion, and companionship in their golden years. Come enjoy a day of fishing while supporting this great organization with your $25 entry fee! Catch & Release Fishing runs from 7-11AM and winners will be announced at 12PM. Bring your own pole, no live bait permitted, park rules & regulations must be followed. Parking is free for the first 30 cars (non-Crystal Lake Residents). Check-in required at Pavilion B and you will be given a unique derby code. TWO CATEGORIES: 1. Longest 5 fish total 2. Longest individual fish FISHING DERBY RULES: 1. Only bass (largemouth and smallmouth) will count. 2. To be a qualifying fish, it must be a bass that is 12” in length or greater. 3. When fish are measured, they must have their mouth closed. If the mouth is open even slightly, it will result in a 1/2” deduction. 4. Participants may count the total length of 5 bass. If more than 5 are caught, only the 5 largest will count in the total. 5. Only bass that are caught will count, if they are snagged, they do not count. 6. The mouth of the fish must be clearly lined up with the end of the measuring board. If the fish does not appear to be lined up properly on the measuring board, a deduction of 1/2” will be assessed. 7. The derby code that will be given when you sign in must be clearly legible in the photo of the fish being measured or the fish will not count. 8. The time stamp on the photo will be used to determine that the fish was caught within the allocated derby time. 9. Fish will be measured in whole inches and in 1/4” increments. If a fish measures between the 1/4 and 1/2” lines on the measuring board, it will be rounded down to 1/4”. All photos submitted will be reviewed by the judge. Any question on length or eligibility of a catch will be determined by the judge. Tie Breaker: In the event of a tie for the 5 fish total, the participant with the longest individual bass within their 5 fish total is the tie breaker. In the event of a tie for the longest individual bass, the participant with the 2nd longest within their 5 fish total is the tie breaker. Prizes for 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place winners!
