Two drink minimum. Ticket sales are final; no refunds. Alvon Johnson is a versatile singer and blues guitarist made legendary for his work with The Coasters. He’s played with the best and toured the world to great acclaim. In addition to his time as the vocalist for The Coasters, a band recognized in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Johnson has performed with The Drifters, The Shirelles, Bobby Day, Jimmie Rodgers, and a host of comedic giants who helped him hone his own comedic and charismatic performing style. He’ll be performing with his full band. See them live at Almost Famous Wine Lounge, an award-winning, new tasting room and venue located on Vasco Road in the heart of Livermore's wine, spirits and brewery district. Almost Famous Wine makes fifteen wines in diverse styles, and earned 32 top industry awards since our debut last year. There is a two drink minimum for each guest. Reserved table seating is available for purchase at this show. Non reserved seating is otherwise available first come, first served. Outside food is welcome, but please bus your table of any food items when you are finished. Only Almost Famous wines can be consumed on premise, but with a menu of 15 wines in diverse styles, there's something for everyone. Alvon Johnson is one of the most versatile musicians, singers and entertainers on the music scene today. He travels the world singing and swinging jazz standards with big bands. He also gallops the globe performing the songs that he sang as vocalist for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame group, The Coasters. In addition, he has performed with many well known artists, including The Drifters, The Shirelles, Bobby Day (of Rocking’ Robin fame), and Jimmie Rodgers (of Country and Western fame.) Known for his comedic style, Alvon Johnson worked with many comedians such as Renaldo Rey, Robin Harris, Skillet and Leroy, and Lawanda Paige (Aunt Ester), from the Redd Foxx show. His love and respect for the American art form is shared by large and enthusiastic audiences the world over, and he is particularly well known in Poland, Russia, Spain and Portugal as an “Ambassador” and “King” of the Blues. AWARDS • Recipient of the Music Icon Award from the Black Music Association & Academy of America in 2015 • Recipient of the Best Male Blues Artist from the Black Music Association & Academy Of America in 2015 • Voted 2005 Blues Guitar Player of the Year • Former vocalist with the Rock and Roll Hall of fame group “The Coasters” • Regional winner of the Guitar Centers “King of the Blues” national contest in 2006 and 2007 • Album “The Blues Grew up was nominated for Outstanding Blues Album of 2004 Voted as one of the top ten CD’s in Japan in 2005 • Album “Guitars and Cars”, was voted in the top ten CD’s of 2008 by the prestigious Blues magazine “Real Blues ” • Nominated for the Entertainer of the Year Award with the “International Music and Entertainment Association” His early music influences were guitar players such as Wes Montgomery, Andre Segovia, Charlie Christian, and of course Jimi Hendrix. His vocalist influences were Frank Sinatra, Joe Williams, Johnny Hartman, and Nat King Cole. Alvon Johnson sought out, and learned, at the feet of many icons of the Blues, including John Lee Hooker, Pee Wee Crayton, Little Joe Blue, Harmonica Fats, Frankie Lee, Guitar Shorty, Lowell Folsom, and Buddy Ace.
