Preservation Austin invites our members to celebrate Preservation Month on historic South Congress! To celebrate Preservation Month, we invite our members to join us on May 25 for an evening exploring historic South Congress! This year’s Preservation Month theme is “People Saving Places. ” Historic place-savers pour their time, energy, and resources into protecting places they care about, often without recognition. In honor of this year’s theme, we wanted to say thank you to the people supporting Preservation Austin in saving our city’s historic spaces––our members. We’ll kick off the event with a complimentary drink at Hotel San José, where you’ll meet other people saving places. Then set off to explore South Congress’ eclectic heritage with our brand new self-guided tour. One of the city’s most celebrated districts, the history of South Congress tells the story of Austin. From iconic music venues to legacy businesses and National Register districts, our self-guided tour explores the many facets of South Congress’ incredible history. Join us on May 25 to celebrate Austin’s historic places and the people who save them! Attendance is limited. Please RSVP by May 20 to secure your place.
