An M.S.G. Concert isn't just a performance it's an event where everyone participates. You're in the audience and part of the celebration! M.S.G. Acoustic Blues Trio is a roots-infused, Piedmont-steeped, yet thoroughly up-to-date group of widely and deeply talented musicians. Their influences include, but are not limited to, Archie Edwards, Cephas & Wiggins, and Etta Baker. A typical performance ranges from humorous roof raisers to the deepest expression of the blues, with a whole lot of musical stops in between. They wield a wide variety of instruments, but primarily it's Jackie Merritt on harmonica, bones and uke; Miles Spicer on guitar; and Resa Gibbs on lead vocals and washboard. M.S.G.'s repertoire includes original songs, traditional blues, gospel/spirituals and ragtime influenced tunes, as well as a number of surprising covers. They feel honored to have received the following recognitions/awards: 2020 VEER Music Lifetime Achievement Award 2020 LIVING BLUES Magazine, “Breaking Out” by Frank Matheis 2017 THE FLOOD received a first-round Grammy nomination under the category of Best Traditional Blues Album.
