Port Chester Business Owners Protest Coronavirus Restrictions

PORT CHESTER, NY — Small business owners in Westchester County's only orange-level coronavirus zones hit the streets Monday to protest the state-mandated restrictions. Many of the owners said the restrictions were not slowing the spread of the virus, even as they continue to lose business income, the Journal News said. They also contend the restrictions are wrongly imposed on businesses when even the state is saying small family gatherings are spreading the virus. Read the complete Journal News article here. Port Chester was declared an orange zone in mid-November by the state. Under orange-zone regulations, high-risk businesses such as hair and nail salons and gyms had to close. On Sunday, the state said Port Chester had a seven-day rolling average positivity of 11.42 percent, which is the highest in the county. Saturday's average was 11.27 percent; Friday's, 10.27 percent. According to Westchester County, Port Chester has had a total of 2,150 confirmed coronavirus infections year to date, with 267 active cases, up 59 from the previous day.
