This teacher workshop will explore the history and traditions associated with the celebration of the Day of Dead.
The Spirit of Día de los Muertos exhibition at the McClung Museum highlights the rich history of a celebration that honors and remembers departed loved ones with artistic sentimentality. The exhibition will present traditional and contemporary ofrendas, (Guatemalan) kites, alebrijes, and skulls that display the dedication and evolution of the widely and cross-culturally celebrated holiday. One-of-a-kind installations created by Knoxville community participants and artworks by local artists will be on view.
Join this teacher workshop to learn more about the rich cultural context surrounding these traditions. The program will feature two guest speakers, a gallery tour, and presentation by the exhibition's co-curator. Earn 2 hours of professional development!
