NEW YORK CITY — The suspected killer of a civilian NYPD worker died by suicide early Wednesday on a Williamsburg street, police said. Pedro Cintron, 55, shot himself in the head about 7:50 a.m. in front of 98 McKibbin St., near Manhattan Avenue, NYPD officials said. Cintron's apparent suicide ended a two-day search following the shooting death of Migdalia Ortega, 51, in her Fresh Pond apartment, said police. Authorities believe Cintron shot Ortega, who worked 11 years for the NYPD, in an act of domestic violence. Cintron is also suspected of shooting one of Ortega's neighbors, a 48-year-old woman who walked upstairs to check in on her as the incident unfolded, police said. Police told Patch that they didn't find Cintron until his body was discovered Wednesday morning, with a gunshot wound to his head. Doctors pronounced him deceased at Kings County Hospital, police said. If you or someone you know is considering suicide, there are resources to help. The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is available 24 hours a day at 1-800-273-8255. Its website offers services including a live chat.
