LEVITTOWN, NY — At its meeting on April 26, the Levittown Board of Education honored multiple students, staff and community members for their hard work and achievements. Dozens of athletes from winter sports teams were recognized for their various achievements, including All-Division, All-League, All-County and All-Conference honors, individual and team championships, state championship qualifications, Scholar Athlete awards and other sportsmanship awards. Director of Physical Education, Athletics, and Health Services Keith Snyder announced athletes from the boys basketball, girls basketball, cheerleading, winter track and wrestling teams from MacArthur High School who earned these various honors, as well as from the district-wide boys swimming team. For Division Avenue High School, Chairperson of Physical Education and Health Sean Smith invited up athletes from the boys basketball, girls basketball, boys bowling, girls bowling, cheerleading, winter track and wrestling teams. The board of education honored several Levittown students who have earned the highest honors in scouting — the Gold Award from the Girls Scouts and Eagle Scout from Scouting BSA. One of the requirements was the successful completion of a community service project. Vin and Dawn Causeman were recognized for their efforts every April during Autism Awareness Month. They have spearheaded a T-shirt fundraiser that has raised more than $100,000 over the past decade for the Nassau-Suffolk Autism Society of America, making Levittown the highest-earning district on Long Island. The SCOPE Award was presented to Superintendent Dr. Tonie McDonald for her 25 years of service to the district, Board of Education Vice President Jennifer Messina, and Levittown Historical Society member Bob Koenig.
