TOWN N' COUNTRY, FL — Two dogs are alive thanks to the refusal of Hillsborough County firefighters to give up on them when they were trapped in a town home fire Tuesday morning. Hillsborough County Fire Rescue was called to the scene of a fire in the 6200 block of Oak Cluster Circle around 11:30 a.m. When firefighters arrived, they found smoke pouring out of the windows of the two-story attached town home and were told the resident was trapped inside. Firefighters found the resident trapped on the second floor of the smoke-filled town home, and evacuated her through a second-floor window. One crew doused the blaze while another went back into the town home to rescue the resident's two pet dogs. Hillsborough County Sheriff The dogs were unconscious, barely breathing and their prognosis was bleak. But, using oxygen masks specifically made for pets, firefighters worked on the dogs until they were resuscitated.
