Seasonal Parks Employee Seasonal park employees assist with athletic field prep, mowing, trimming, weeding, cleaning park restrooms, painting, mulching, garbage removal, event set-up/take-down, special event staffing, and a variety of park projects. Splash Pad Attendant Splash Pad Attendants work at The Grove and will help keep our splash pad, pavilion, multi-sport courts, and playground clean and safe by answering patron questions and resolving any issues; cleaning restrooms, the day camp pavilion, splash pad area, playground, multi-sport courts, and general area around The Grove; completing chemical checks; and conducting general patrols of the area to address issues and answer questions. Building Maintenance Technician/Custodian (Fulltime with Benefits) Help us provide a clean and safe environment for our public buildings, with an emphasis on customer service. This full-time position offers independent work, great benefits, and the opportunity to serve the public, pays $17-$22 per hour, depending on qualifications, and includes a pension through the Wisconsin Retirement System, health insurance, paid vacation and sick leave, and other benefits. Finance Director (Full-time with Benefits) The Village is looking for our next Finance Director; our existing Director is retiring after 30+ years with the Village. The Finance Director is a highly responsible managerial position serving on the Village's Management Team and reporting directly to the Village Administrator. Qualifications: A CPA with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred; five years of public financial management experience, preferably in a manager role. The starting annual salary is $100,000, or higher depending on qualifications. The Village's benefit package is competitive and includes a pension through the Wisconsin Retirement System, deferred compensation match, health and dental insurance, and support for professional development. Deputy Clerk (Full-time with Benefits) The Deputy Clerk assists the Clerk/Treasurer with preparing and distributing agendas, minutes, and other accompanying information for boards, committees and commissions; oversees the records management program; issues permits and licenses; assists with the coordination of the municipal-owned and operated cemetery; and performs duties as required by state statute relating to elections. One of the most essential functions of this position is the provision of external customer service, including assisting the four part-time Administrative Assistants who serve as the first point of contact for residents calling or visiting the Civic Center. This position also serves as the backup for the Clerk/Treasurer. The position works Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., plus some evening hours for Village Board and Committee Meetings. The salaried pay range for this position is $52,000 annually depending on experience and qualifications. The Village's benefit package is competitive and includes a pension through the Wisconsin Retirement System, deferred compensation match, health and dental insurance, and support for professional development. Part-time Firefighter/Paramedic The Village of Sussex is accepting applications for the position of Firefighter/Paramedic. These positions are part-time paid on premise. Shifts are 12 hours (06:00-18:00 and 18:00-06:00) and there is a weekend/holiday commitment. Part-time positions are limited to two 12-hour shifts per week (24 hours total). Minimum qualifications for the position are: 18 years of age; high school diploma or GED; possession of a valid driver's license with a good driving record; a current State of Wisconsin EMT or Paramedic license; State of Wisconsin Firefighter I; and State of Wisconsin Driver/Operator-Pumper. The pay rate starts at $17 per hour for Firefighter/Paramedic, $14.98 per hour for Firefighter/EMT-A, and $14.29 per hour for Firefighter/EMT-B. An additional $0.25 per hour is paid on top of this base salary for each of the following certifications: Driver/Operator-Pumper, Driver/Operator-Aerial, Firefighter II, Emergency Services Instructor, and Fire Inspector. Assessor In-Person Office Hours Monday, May 23 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Associated Appraisal, the Village Assessor, will hold in-person office hours at the Civic Center from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, May 23. In addition, telephone appointments are available on May 24 and 25 (appointments preferred). This is an opportunity for residents to get answers to any questions they may have about their assessment or the assessment process prior to Board of Review, which takes place on Wednesday, June 16. Rock-a-Thon 2022 Tuesday, May 24 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Civic Center Plaza on Main Street (weather permitting) Rock-A-Thon is a fun event held in honor of Older Adults Awareness Month and features: Volunteers rocking on Main Street in support and celebration of our older adult population. Splash Pad Opening The splash pad at The Grove at Village Park opens for the 2022 season on Friday, May 27 (weather permitting). The splash pad will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. or dusk (whichever is earlier) the Friday before Memorial Day through Labor Day. This deposits fertilizers into the storm drains, which then get into our streams and degrade the natural habitat. In addition, grass clippings clog storm drains and can contribute to local flooding.
