PORT CHESTER, NY — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented times. Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these everyday heroes. This submission comes from Ximena of Port Chester, who nominated Andrea Castaneda of Port Chester. Name of the nominee: Andrea Castaneda. Is the nominee considered an "essential worker"? Yes. What does the nominee do for work? Social Worker — medical and psychiatric. Why do you believe the nominee should be recognized or honored? Regardless of the dangers she risks her life to help her patients, the work social workers do is under-reported. She and so many others social workers deserve recognition of what they do for our community. What's one thing you want everyone to know about your hero? She is caring and passionate about her work.
