Here are the top stories in New Orleans today: In an unprecedented move, Louisiana's 'Don't Say Gay' bill, a bill that would ban public school teachers from taking about gender identity and sexual orientation that was rejected by the House education committee is being overridden by House lawmakers so it can be considered by "the Committee of the Whole."(WWNO) The New Orleans City Council held a Join Criminal Justice Committee meeting to help solve the police staffing crisis. The department is designed to run with 1,600 officers currently has less than 1,000 and continues to lose them each day. At the meeting, City Council considered many different proposed solutions to the problem, one including a pay raise incentive. (WDSU New Orleans) After a two-year COVId hiatus, nearly half a million people show up to celebrate the return of Jazz Fest over the past week.
