Description

Press release from the Urbandale Community School District: May 8, 2022 Current UCSD Director of Teaching and Learning, Dr. Crista Carlile, will be resigning at the end of this school year to pursue a leadership role as Regional Director for Heartland AEA. We have been fortunate to learn from and with Dr. Carlile over the past eight years as she has demonstrated exceptional leadership as a champion of student learning and staff development. The countless hours she devoted to leading the District through transitioning instructional models during the height of the pandemic was nothing short of extraordinary. While Dr. Carlile will be greatly missed, our task now is to prepare for the future which leads us to an exciting announcement. Mr. Brandon Schrauth has accepted the position as our new Director of Teaching and Learning. Over the past three years, Mr. Schrauth has served as our Webster Elementary principal. Before coming to Urbandale, Mr. Schrauth was a principal for four years in the Ames Community School District, an Instructional Coach at Horizon Elementary in the Johnston Community School District, and a kindergarten, first grade, and second grade teacher for 11 years in Johnston Schools, Des Moines Schools, and Waukee Schools. Mr. Schrauth holds a Master of Education in Educational Leadership, Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction, and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Iowa State University. "I look forward to the opportunity to serve our students, families, and staff as we collectively support every student in reaching their full potential," said Schrauth. Please join us in welcoming Mr. Schrauth to the position of Director of Teaching and Learning beginning July 1, 2022. We're thrilled to continue working alongside Mr. Schrauth and look forward to experiencing his leadership on a district-wide level.
