From the Mandel Public Library of West Palm Beach: September 29, 2020 by Faith It's the second month of Sweethearts Book Club, and this time we're reading historical romances! Taking a page from Millennials Ruin Book Club, members of the Sweethearts Book Club can read any book in the genre, as long as its protagonists are LGBTQ+ or a POC. To help guide your reading choices, here's a brief definition for you: A book is considered a historical romance if 1) it is set in a realistic era in the past, drawing on environmental details that would be true to the time; 2) it focuses on a couple growing closer together; and 3) ends with either a happy ending, or at least a happy-for-now ending. Some suggestions for this month are: Destiny's Embrace by Beverly Jenkins (*highly recommended by Faith!)
