Press release from the City of Minnetonka: May 10, 2022 Grant funding to rehabilitate homes through Homes Within Reach The city council approved agreements to award $180,000 in Local Housing Incentives Account grant funds to Homes Within Reach. The grant application submitted by Homes Within Reach included a request to acquire and rehabilitate 12 single-family homes in Minnetonka and other western Hennepin County communities. Council introduces ordinance regarding swimming pools and spas The city council introduced an ordinance amending City Code 805 regarding pools and spas to reflect updates to the Minnesota Pool Code. The changes would remove outdated language, clarify definitions and update permitting procedures. Final review of the ordinance is tentatively scheduled for the May 23, 2022, meeting. City supports Regional Trails Master Plan The city council adopted a resolution and letter of support for the Three Rivers Park District Nine Regional Trails Master Plan. The master plan document describes outreach and engagement strategy and outlines a series of trail improvement themes. With the master plan being a planning document, it will be incorporated into the Three Rivers Park District's funding program in the future. Council approves traffic signal agreement with Hennepin County The city council approved a traffic signal maintenance agreement with Hennepin County that defines the responsibilities of the city and county to effectively operate and maintain traffic signal systems in Minnetonka. This agreement was updated because MnDOT recently transferred several traffic signals on county roadways to Hennepin County. Council upholds denial of variances at 4299 Annika Court The city council upheld the planning commission's denial of a variance to exceed the maximum building height and floor area ratio for a new home at 4299 Annika Court. The proposal was for a 26-foot high, 4,500-square foot home. A building permit can still be issued if the applicant revises the plans. Hennepin County commissioner provides council update The city council received an update from Hennepin County Commissioner Chris LaTondresse, who represents District 6, on ongoing projects and initiatives throughout the county.
