JOLIET, IL — An order of protection that was granted against Joliet criminal defendant Michael "Mike" McCorkle offers more details surrounding the 54-year-old Wilson Avenue man's arrest by Joliet police April 29. Will County prosecutors have charged McCorkle with aggravated battery to a senior citizen and domestic battery. His bail is $50,000, and he remains in Will County's Jail unable to post bond. According to the order of protection petition, a 79-year-old relative asked McCorkle if he knew where the plunger was "since the kitchen sink was clogged. Michael responded by saying that he thought that I had put it under the sink. "I said thank you to him unplugged the sink and waited there in the kitchen for my lunch to heat up in the oven," the victim wrote the judge. "All of a sudden, Michael came out and said, 'Don't be bothering me (expletive).' I said I was sorry, and then Michael hit me on the head three times as hard as he could." The victim stated in court documents: "I begged him to not hit me. He then left and went to his room. I went out to my car and called the police. They came and saw lumps on my head." The victim notified the judge that Joliet police arrested Mike McCorkle "and told me to get an order of protection at the courthouse the next day."
