GENEVA, IL — The man deemed a person of interest in the suspicious death investigation of a 43-year-old Geneva woman has been released from police custody, officials said. The man was released from the Kane County jail at 6:20 p.m. May 6. Police took him into custody May 4 after he was unable to answer questions or provide "any substantiated information on the missing woman," who was fatally shot and found outside her Geneva home in the 700 block of McKinley Avenue, Patch reported. At 8:02 p.m. Wednesday, Geneva police received a call from one of the woman's Chicago-area relatives reporting her "possibly missing" since 5 a.m. Tuesday, Patch reported. Geneva and St. Charles police went to the house to conduct a well-being check and found the body, officials said. A May 6 autopsy identified the woman as Jodi Grzeda-Anderson. The preliminary cause of death is a single gunshot wound to the head, police said. Toxicology reports are pending, according to officials.
