OAKLAND, CA — The Oakland Zoo is hosting a series of events this summer to mark its hundredth anniversary.
On June 5, the zoo will host a free birthday bash at their original birthplace in Snow Park. The party will feature live music, performances, food, drink, kids' activities, and more.
On June 25, Oakland Zoo will host Walk in the Wild, its largest annual fundraiser. The zoo will feature foods from the Bay Area's top chefs, restaurants, microbreweries, and wineries, and offer live music, dancing, and desserts. The event is limited to attendees 21 or over.
On July 30, August 20, and September 10, attendees will be able to embrace their inner zookeeper by placing food inside animal habitats before they go out, all supervised by zoo staff. Attendees will be able to place produce for elephants, hide seeds for baboons, spread snacks for bears, and more.
"The Zoo and the Conservation Society of California play an indispensable role in this city, enriching the cultural landscape and enhancing the quality of life for all members of our community," Andreas Cluver, president of the Board of Port Commissioners, said in a statement on behalf of Oakland International Airport and the Port of Oakland.
