Description
Come play Brasilian samba with Bloco Alegria! Bloco Alegria was established in 2011 and has a fun repertoire of batucada and songs. We are a community Brasilian percussion band of about twenty or more drummers and dancers.
If you have snare or bass drumming experience from marching band or drumline, we'd love for you to come and introduce yourself. We practice on Monday evenings from 6-9 pm indoors in NE Portland.
Requirements:
- Sticking technique, as we won't teach you basic sticking. We expect you'll show some basic stick control in order for us to proceed with training.
- Willingness to learn a new snare technique. Brasilian feel doesn't work with western sticking.
- Willingness to learn a new style of music, which we will teach you.
