Senior dog in need of a quiet, loving new home

Description

This is Dylan. Dylan is approximately 12-years-old and, unfortunately, due to changes in our family dynamic, is in need of a quiet, loving new home. Dylan is a mixed breed -- for years I believed he was a dachshund/beagle mix -- that I've had since he was a few weeks old. When I adopted him from a shelter, I was told he and his sister had displayed signs of abuse despite being so young. I've seen some symptoms of this over the years. He can display aggression toward other dogs when not properly integrated and doesn't do well with children, particularly younger kids who are active and loud. While he's still very active and doesn't show many signs of age, I do believe Dylan needs an adult-only home. Dylan loves attention and is a very cuddly dog. He is house- and crate-trained and does well on a leash. Unfortunately, he's never had a fenced-in yard to roam free in. He's an "inside dog." He's playful and still runs around a good bit despite his age. He's happy to go on a hike or for a long walk. He loves tearing up soft toys and chomping away on chewable toys. Ring-shaped ones are his favorite. Giving Dylan up to a new home is something I need to do, not something I want to do. I want to find a good fit for him. I'm happy to answer any questions you may have about him, but I would also like to hear why you think Dylan would be a good fit for your home. If you're interested and reach out to me, please include some of those details. You would be welcome to have any and all of Dylan's gear: his crate, bed, toys, food storage, leash, etc. I'm not interested in any sort of payment or rehoming fee for myself. However, it's very important to me to find Dylan a home where he will be loved and taken care of, so I may wish to request proof of a small donation to a local charity. You could even choose the charity. If you're interested in Dylan, we can certainly discuss this component further.
