Adams County Public Works is seeking a Solid Waste Attendant for the Bruce Transfer Station. Please note: Applicant must submit a completed job application form. Job Description The major function of this position is operation of the Bruce Transfer Station, located near Othello, WA. Persons in this position are responsible for inspecting solid waste materials for unacceptable wastes, operating equipment in the loading of materials into trailers for shipment and hauling waste to the disposal site. Skills • Directs and assists public off-loading of solid waste materials; assists public in placing recyclable materials and household hazardous waste materials in proper containers • Visually screens solid waste materials for acceptability and directs the removal of unacceptable wastes; visually screens solid waste materials for recyclables and removes such materials • Operate backhoe for the purpose of cleaning the tipping floor • Operate backhoe and hand equipment for loading and compacting of solid waste materials in transfer trailers • Operate backhoe, hand equipment, ‘yard goat’ and other equipment as needed in transfer station operations Requirements • High school diploma or equivalent • Must possess a valid Washington State Class "A" commercial driver's license (CDL) • Must be able to obtain a Medic First Aid (CPR inclusive) card within the probationary period • Able to work in all types of weather conditions Wages and Benefits • Wage range $21.45-$22.42 • Ten regular paid holidays are offered • Two floating holidays each year • Sick leave and vacation time accrued monthly • Full Medical and Dental benefits • Retirement plan Hours of Work • Forty (40) hours per week How to Apply Applicant must submit a completed job application form; a resume in lieu of filling out the application is not acceptable.
