Description

Adams County Public Works is seeking a Mechanic for the Othello area. Please note: Applicant must submit a completed job application form. Job Description Duties include engine repair and maintenance of diesel, gasoline, hydraulic, and electrical systems on public works equipment, including cars, trucks, tractors, graders, bulldozers, and backhoes, etc. Applicants are required to have a considerable knowledge of automotive systems and parts and are expected to diagnose mechanical problems using electric and mechanical testing equipment. Skills • Repair of diesel and gas powered equipment and their related systems • Preventative maintenance on all equipment • Mechanical repairs in the field with an equipped service truck • Knowledge of mechanical hazards and safety precautions • Diagnose electrical and mechanical failures • Comprehend technical instructions in repair manuals • Weld, fabricate and modify equipment Requirements • Must possess a valid Washington State Class "A" commercial driver's license (CDL) • Two years of experience in automotive mechanical repair work of automotive or diesel equipment; or • Substitute successful completion of a technical school training program or recognized apprenticeship program in mechanical gasoline or diesel repair • Able to work in all types of weather conditions Wages and Benefits • Wage range $21.45-$22.42 • Ten regular paid holidays are offered • Two floating holidays each year • Sick leave and vacation time accrued monthly • Full Medical and Dental benefits • Retirement plan Hours of Work • Forty (40) hours per week How to Apply Applicant must submit a completed job application form; a resume in lieu of filling out the application is not acceptable.
