Job Summary Central Oregon Truck Company is a nationwide leader in flatbed trucking and is looking to give a mechanic apprentice an opportunity to be part of our team with no experience required. We will provide a toolbox and tools to the apprentice free of charge. We are looking for someone with a mechanical aptitude and willing to pay attention to detail. Position Profile The apprentice technician is responsible for helping journey technicians with repairs and preventive maintenance on semi-trucks and trailers. Tools will be given free of charge to the apprentice in return of 1 year of work (2080) hours. Job Duties and Responsibilities: • On the job training for repairing and maintaining equipment. • Basic repairs such as oil changes, lubes, brakes, lighting, and air bags. Qualifications: • High school or equivalent (Preferred) Skills and Abilities: • Must possess skills in the following: • Safety-first mindset and behaviors • Excellent interpersonal skills are required • Ability to commutate effectively, both written and oral • Ability to work well with persons at all levels within the organization • High attention to detail • Basic mathematical skills • Complete tasks timely with a great attention to detail • Must comply with the company’s time and attendance policy • Must be able to read, write and speak English at a level that would allow the communication and comprehension of job-related information, instructions, regulations, signs, maps, MSDS guidelines, required paperwork, memos, etc. • Be able to work with a sense of urgency ensuring deadlines are met or exceeded and drivers are able to meet their time constraints Other Requirements: • Ability to secure and maintain a driver’s license valid in the State of Oregon • Must be able to comply with the company’s time and attendance policy • Will be subject to successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen and background Schedule: • This is a full-time position. Shop hours are Mon-Fri 7AM-11:30PM. Sat-Sun 7AM-3:30PM. We have day shift and swing shift. Nights or weekend work may be required. • Full time • 8hr shifts with over time available Pay: • DOE $16-$19hr
