Description
TARPON SPRINGS, FL — Work on the Meres Boulevard connector between Safford Avenue and Disston Avenue is well underway.
This roadway will provide a much-needed additional east-west connector between Pinellas Avenue and U.S. 19.
The city's contractor, Densification Inc., will begin dynamic compaction work Thursday using a crane. This work will generate vibrations and possibly dust. The dynamic compaction work is expected to last between five and seven weeks, depending upon soil conditions and weather.
Seismographs will be in place around the perimeter of the work area to monitor vibration levels. Gas, dust and asbestos monitors are also in place. Gas and dust monitors have alarms with constant monitoring. Asbestos testing is ongoing with a 48-hour turnaround from the laboratory.
A description of the dynamic compaction process is available on the contractor's website.
Questions or concerns may be directed to Mike Bednash, supervisor for Densification Inc., 570-936-9089.
