Description

TARPON SPRINGS, FL — With the assistance of Palm Harbor Fire Rescue and Sunstar Paramedics, Tarpon Springs Fire Rescue rescued two construction workers who fell 25 to 30 feet while working on a roof Friday. Tarpon Springs Fire Rescue was called to a construction site at Meres Boulevard and Callista Cay Loop Friday morning. Both construction workers had to be extricated off the two-story building with a ladder truck. Coincidentally, over the past several weeks Tarpon Springs Fire Rescue crews have been conducting training on the use of a Stokes basket attached to the fire rescue's new ladder truck. A Stokes basket is a rescue stretcher. The device has multiple uses but Tarpon Springs Fire Rescue crews specifically trained for roof-top rescues, practicing to lower patients in the basket (see training video below). They were construction workers were airlifted to Regional Medical Center at Bayonet Point. Their condition has not been released.
