It doesn't make sense, because it's a ridiculous lie. Conservatives support CONSERVATION of individual freedom versus the power of "the state". Liberals support the power of the state over the rights of the individual. Do you honestly think that political refugees would run away from a broken system, only to attempt to recreate that same broken system here? No. They vote conservative because it's the OPPOSITE of the socialism which they escaped from.
