Carole, Howard Baskin Tapped For TV Expose On Animal Exploitation

LOS ANGELES, CA — Carole and Howard Baskin, the husband-and-wife activists behind the nonprofit educational sanctuary Big Cat Rescue in Tampa and subjects at the center of the Netflix docuseries, "Tiger King," have partnered with ITV America's Thinkfactory Media to develop and produce a new unscripted series that will feature the Baskins as they work to expose those who abuse and take advantage of animals. The Baskins say the new project will focus on their 20-year war against those who profit from the pain and suffering of big cats and other wild animals. In addition to offering sanctuary to abused and unwanted big cats at the 67-acre nonprofit Big Cat Rescue, the Baskins have lobbied for years to outlaw the practice in which tiger cubs are prematurely taken from their mothers to be passed around and to paying customers. The Big Cat Public Safety Act (H.R. 1380- S.2561) is a federal bill that would prevent people from owning big cats as pets and stop exploitative roadside zoos from offering cub petting and photo ops. In the new series with Thinkfactory Media, the Baskins plan to shine a spotlight on this exploitive practice with tiger cubs as well as violations by roadside zoos. "This partnership and new series fall right into Thinkfactory's wheelhouse, offering a unique new format with incredibly vibrant and passionate individuals at its center," Thinkfactory CEO Adam Reed said.
