On June 14 we'll be hearing from Ara Bagdasarian, entrepreneur, author, community leader, and advocate for safe schools and campuses. Ara founded Omnilert, which invented the worlds first campus emergency notification system in 2004. In 2021, Ara founded ZeroNow, an initiative by safety technology and education leaders to end harmful events in schools.
Ara authored and published the winner of the 2012 Small Business Book Award, “The Lemonade Stand”, which presents a fresh perspective on how anyone can convert a problem into a successful business while minimizing risk, debt, and obstacles.
Ara is an active community leader who currently serves as a Town Council Member in Leesburg, among many other roles in the community including Chairman of Leesburg’s Economic Development Commission, President of The Arc of Loudoun, President of the Loudoun Symphony Orchestra, Loudoun Literacy Council, and Loudoun Center for the Arts.
In 2017, Ara started the nonprofit, BENEFIT, which is a coalition of musicians and community leaders that raise funds and awareness for nonprofit organizations supporting community needs.
